The Gülen Movement has reawakened the force for change that was dormant at the roots of civil society. It has managed to embody this apolitical potential in institutions in order to advance education and thus to revitalize and consolidate civic, pluralist and democratic institutions. It has demonstrated that there are peaceful, non-confrontational, institutional channels for the handling of demands. It has opened new channels for individual and collective mobility, and this opening obstructs the formation of conflictual actions. Thus, the Gülen Movement has acted as a barrier against actions that reduce everything produced in civil society to party politics and has prevented the public space from being manipulated for cheap political gains and games.
